Where To Watch Civil War

More details about Civil War and where you can watch

Civil War was one of the most ambitious films produced by A24, with an estimated budget of $50 million, making it the studio’s most expensive movie at the time. Interestingly, director Alex Garland deliberately avoided explaining which political side was right or wrong, allowing audiences to focus on the devastating effects of war rather than political arguments. Kirsten Dunst plays Lee Smith, an experienced war photographer, and her real-life husband, Jesse Plemons, appears in a particularly disturbing scene as an armed soldier. Another fascinating fact is that Jesse was brought into the role at the last minute after the original actor became unavailable. The film also features an unusual alliance between Texas and California, adding an unexpected element to its fictional American conflict. Instead of following traditional war-movie storytelling, Civil War explores the emotional struggles of journalists who risk their lives to capture historical events through their cameras. Its realistic cinematography, intense sound design and powerful performances helped it become one of A24’s most talked-about theatrical releases of 2024.
