Set in a technologically advanced future ruled by powerful corporations, Murderbot follows a self-aware security android called Murderbot (played by Alexander Skarsgård) that secretly hacks its own governor module, giving itself free will. Instead of becoming a deadly machine, it develops an unexpected obsession with binge-watching futuristic soap operas while trying to avoid human interaction. Assigned to protect a scientific expedition on a dangerous alien planet, Murderbot reluctantly works alongside Dr. Mensah, Gurathin, Pin-Lee, Ratthi, Bharadwaj, Arada, and the rest of the Preservation Alliance research team. As mysterious attacks and corporate conspiracies threaten the mission, the android must balance keeping its secret hidden with protecting the humans it claims not to care about.
