Jason X (2001) boldly reinvents the Friday the 13th franchise by transporting its legendary killer into outer space. Set in the distant future, the film imagines a world where Earth has become uninhabitable and Jason Voorhees has been cryogenically frozen. When a group of young space explorers accidentally revive him aboard a research spacecraft, Jason resumes his unstoppable killing spree. This time in zero gravity. Both are revived aboard a spaceship, where Jason quickly begins murdering the crew. After sustaining massive damage, Jason is reconstructed by advanced nanotechnology, transforming him into the powerful “Uber Jason.” As the body count rises, Rowan sacrifices herself to stop him. Jason is ejected into space and crashes onto Earth II, seemingly destroyed until his mask is seen burning through the atmosphere, hinting that evil never truly dies.
