In Friday the 13th Part 2, the legend of Jason Voorhees becomes terrifyingly real. Five years after the original massacre, Camp Crystal Lake is shut down, but counselors at a nearby training center believe the story of Jason is only a myth. As night falls, Jason now an adult emerges from the woods and begins hunting them. Using brutal weapons like machetes, spears, and knives, he kills silently and mercilessly. Survivor Ginny Field uses psychology to briefly outsmart Jason by exploiting his emotional connection to his mother. The film ends with a shocking and ambiguous finale that leaves Jason’s fate uncertain. Part 2 cemented the franchise’s darker tone and pushed the slasher genre further into mainstream popularity.
