In Despicable Me 3, Gru and his wife Lucy are dismissed from the Anti-Villain League after failing to capture the eccentric villain Balthazar Bratt, whose crimes are inspired by his failed child-actor past. Soon after, Gru learns he has a wealthy twin brother, Dru, separated at birth. While Dru dreams of becoming a super-villain like their father, Gru struggles between his heroic life and villain roots. Meanwhile, the Minions rebel after Gru refuses to return to evil, causing chaos of their own. As Bratt’s plan threatens the city, Gru must embrace both sides of himself to protect his family and stop the villain.

Trey Parker, the creator of South Park, voiced the villain Balthazar Bratt and many of Bratt’s dance moves and personality traits were directly inspired by Parker’s own 1980s music videos and pop-culture obsessions, making him one of the most unexpectedly personal villains in the franchise.
