In Season 6, which premiered April 1, 2009, Reno 911! introduces two new deputies to the force after several characters depart (explained as casualties of the prior season’s finale explosion). The surviving squad led by Lt. Jim Dangle navigates through a series of absurd, off-the-wall cases: extraditing a suspect to Thailand, bargaining with a serial killer for victim locations, surviving a chaotic murder-mystery dinner, handling a suspicious “Pope visit,” crashing a swingers’ club, and more. Episodes range from undercover drug stings to bizarre corporate toy-crackdowns and “Secret Santa” desert mysteries. Through all this mayhem, the show satirizes law enforcement incompetence, social absurdities, and bureaucratic chaos — blending raunchy humor, slapstick, and dark satire.

In Season 6 of Reno 911!, the regular cast drastically changed several main deputies from previous seasons (including Deputy James Garcia, Deputy Clementine Johnson, and Deputy Cherisha Kimball) did not return. Their absence was explained on-screen as them having died in an explosion at the end of Season 5. Suddenly replacing long-standing characters with new ones while continuing the show’s absurd tone shocked many longtime fans, who felt the tone and camaraderie of the original crew had been disrupted.
