In Season 2, Lt. Jim Dangle and his merry cadre of deputies including Travis Junior, Trudy Wiegel, S. Jones, James Garcia, Raineesha Williams, and Clementine Johnson plunge into a new batch of ridiculous cases: investigating a possible serial killer disguised as a pizza-delivery man, guarding celebrity events, conducting drug busts, handling undercover stings, and even dealing with religious broadcasts from jail. Their personal lives and incompetence often create more chaos than the crimes themselves. With half-baked plans, over-the-top acting, and shocking comedic timing, the season showcases how the “thin blue line” can unravel fast when the cops themselves are its worst liability.

In Season 2 of RENO 911!, during the episode where the department is “looking after” a famous country singer’s book-signing event the show actually got real Kenny Rogers to appear as himself, and one of the deputies gets to lead his security detail. For a mockumentary-style comedy known for absurdity and satire, having a real superstar show up and play along with all the show’s anarchic incompetence was a wild break from tradition. Many fans were shocked that the real celebrity agreed to be spoofed by these ridiculous cops.
