Where To Watch Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun — Season 2

After the events of Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul, Riko, Reg and Nanachi finally reach the Sixth Layer, a region from which very few explorers ever return. Their destination is the legendary Golden City, but instead they discover a strange settlement known as Ilblu, the Village of the Hollows. The village is inhabited by beings who have been transformed by the Abyss and live according to a mysterious system of value. As Riko explores the village, Reg searches for answers about his forgotten past, while Nanachi becomes entangled in a devastating situation involving Belaf and the mysterious Hollow known as Faputa. At the same time, the season reveals the tragic history of the Ganja squad, a group of explorers who reached the Sixth Layer long before Riko and Reg. Their story explains how the village came into existence and introduces one of the most important mysteries in the entire Made in Abyss world.

More details about Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun — Season 2 and where you can watch

Season 2 dramatically expands the mythology of the Abyss. Rather than simply following Riko and Reg’s descent, it spends significant time exploring the people who came before them. The Ganja expedition’s story gives the audience a glimpse into what happened to an earlier group of explorers who attempted to reach the Golden City. This makes Season 2 feel like both a continuation and a historical mystery.

The Village of the Hollows is also one of the strangest settings in the series. Its economy is based around the concept of value, creating a bizarre society where almost anything can have a measurable worth. The village’s rules are closely connected to the desires and wishes of its inhabitants.

Season 2 also gives considerably more attention to Reg’s mysterious origins. His identity, abilities and connection to the deeper layers of the Abyss become increasingly important as the story progresses.
