Where To Watch The Green Mile

Set in 1935 at Cold Mountain Penitentiary, The Green Mile follows Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks), an experienced death-row prison guard whose world changes when John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan) arrives on the prison's notorious green-floored corridor. Coffey is an enormous man convicted of murdering two young girls, yet his gentle personality seems completely at odds with the brutal crime. As Paul, Brutus "Brutal" Howell (David Morse) and their fellow guards—including Dean Stanton (Barry Pepper) and Harry Terwilliger (Jeffrey DeMunn)—come to know Coffey, they discover that he possesses a mysterious ability to heal the sick. Meanwhile, cruel guard Percy Wetmore (Doug Hutchison) and dangerous prisoner "Wild Bill" Wharton (Sam Rockwell) bring violence and chaos to the death row. The emotional heart of the story is Paul's growing realization that the justice system may be about to execute a truly extraordinary and innocent man. Alongside Coffey, the story also features the memorable mouse Mr. Jingles, Eduard Delacroix (Michael Jeter), Warden Hal Moores (James Cromwell) and Melinda Moores (Patricia Clarkson).

More details about The Green Mile and where you can watch

The Green Mile was adapted by Frank Darabont from Stephen King’s 1996 serialized novel. Interestingly, the book was originally published in six separate installments, rather than as one conventional novel. Darabont had already directed The Shawshank Redemption, another acclaimed prison drama based on a Stephen King story, before making The Green Mile.

The film received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, and Michael Clarke Duncan’s portrayal of John Coffey became one of the most memorable performances of his career.
