One of the most interesting aspects of Season 1 is that although the story is set at a fictional wellness retreat in California, much of the series was actually filmed in New South Wales, Australia, including locations around Byron Bay, Ballina and Sydney. Production ran from August 10 to December 21, 2020.

The Australian location became particularly important because the series was filmed during the COVID-19 pandemic. International cast members had to follow Australia’s strict quarantine requirements, and the production operated inside a controlled environment. Nicole Kidman later described the experience as feeling almost like the cast had actually checked into a retreat together.
