Eastbound & Down Season 3 follows Kenny Powers (Danny McBride) as he attempts to rebuild his professional baseball career with the Myrtle Beach Mermen, a minor-league baseball team in South Carolina. After the events of Season 2, Kenny has returned to the United States and finally gets another opportunity to prove himself on the baseball field. Now playing as a closer, Kenny initially enjoys his new status and embraces the lifestyle of a minor-league celebrity. He spends his time partying, riding jet skis and bodyboarding while believing that he is once again destined for major-league greatness. However, Kenny's personal life becomes increasingly complicated when he reconnects with April Buchanon (Katy Mixon) and becomes involved in the life of his young son, Toby.
