One of the most interesting aspects of the 2005 movie is that Tim Burton wanted the film to feel closer to Roald Dahl’s original book rather than simply copying the 1971 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. The production also expanded Willy Wonka’s childhood and introduced his dentist father, Dr. Wilbur Wonka, played by Christopher Lee. The movie ultimately received an Oscar nomination and earned 15 wins and 52 nominations across various awards.

Deep Roy played all of the Oompa-Loompas. Instead of hiring hundreds of actors, the production used visual effects to duplicate Roy into the many Oompa-Loompa characters seen throughout the factory. This created the unusual effect of one performer appearing as an entire workforce.
