In Bad Shabbos, David and his fiancée Meg plan a peaceful Shabbat dinner with their families in New York City. Meg is converting from Catholicism to Judaism, but tensions rise when their family friend’s unexpected death turns the evening upside down. Rather than involving police which could get David’s brother in trouble. The family tries to discreetly dispose of the body while keeping Meg’s parents unaware. As each attempt at cover-up fails, the awkwardness intensifies, forcing them to improvise even more ridiculous plans. A friendly doorman gets pulled into their schemes, adding to the hilarity. The film’s humor arises from the clash of traditions, cultural expectations, and desperate efforts to maintain a normal dinner in the face of absurd calamity.
