After Jason Voorhees is blown apart by the FBI, his heart survives, containing his evil essence. Jason’s spirit possesses various people, forcing them to commit gruesome murders while seeking members of his bloodline. Former bounty hunter Creighton Duke explains that only a Voorhees family member can truly kill Jason using a mystical dagger. Jessica Kimble, Jason’s long-lost niece, becomes the key to ending the curse. In a climactic ritual, Jason regains his physical form before being dragged to hell by demonic hands. The film ends with Freddy Krueger’s claw pulling Jason’s mask underground, teasing a future crossover.
