Where To Watch The Northman
Prince Amleth's life changes forever when his father, King Aurvandil War-Raven, is murdered by his own brother, Fjölnir, who takes control of the kingdom and marries Amleth's mother, Queen Gudrún. As a child, Amleth escapes the attack and grows up among Viking warriors, carrying a promise to avenge his father, save his mother, and kill Fjölnir. Years later, Amleth learns that his uncle has lost his kingdom and settled in Iceland. Disguised as a captive, Amleth enters Fjölnir's household and begins plotting his revenge. Along the way, he meets Olga of the Birch Forest, a resourceful woman who becomes his ally. However, as Amleth gets closer to fulfilling his oath, he discovers that family, fate, and truth are far more complicated than he expected.

More details about The Northman and where you can watch
The Northman is much more than a Viking revenge movie. Directed by Robert Eggers, the film blends Norse mythology, medieval literature, historical research, and intense physical performances to create a world that feels both ancient and unsettling.
One of the most fascinating facts about The Northman is its connection to Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The film’s central character, Amleth, belongs to an older Scandinavian legend recorded by Saxo Grammaticus in Gesta Danorum. Both stories feature a prince whose life is transformed by his father’s murder and his desire for revenge. This connection makes the movie particularly interesting for viewers who enjoy classic literature and the origins of famous tragic stories.

Did You Know
Although the film draws heavily on Viking-era culture and medieval literature, it is not a documentary or a direct retelling of a verified historical event. It combines historical research with folklore, supernatural imagery, and dramatic invention to create its own interpretation of the Amleth legend.
