One of the most interesting things about Junji Ito Collection is that it is not a conventional anime with one continuing storyline. It is an anthology designed to showcase different corners of Junji Ito’s horror universe. The series adapts material from multiple manga collections, including Junji Ito Masterpiece Collection and Fragments of Horror. The television series contains 12 episodes, with each episode generally presenting two separate horror stories.
The anthology also features some of Ito’s most recognizable creations. Sōichi appears as a recurring character whose strange personality, curses and dark sense of humor provide a different flavor of horror from the more serious stories. Tomie, meanwhile, is one of Ito’s most famous characters and receives two additional OVA episodes associated with the collection.
