Blended is the third movie to reunite Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, following The Wedding Singer (1998) and 50 First Dates (2004). It was also directed by Frank Coraci, who directed The Wedding Singer, making the film a reunion of the same popular comedy team. The movie was filmed partly in South Africa, including the famous Sun City resort, which provides much of the film’s vacation setting. Another interesting detail is that Terry Crews plays Nickens, the resort entertainer, giving the movie several memorable musical-comedy moments. Former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal also makes a credited appearance. The title Blended has a double meaning, referring both to Jim and Lauren’s relationship and to their two families gradually coming together as a blended family.

Blended is essentially a reunion of the creative team behind The Wedding Singer: Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore and director Frank Coraci all returned for this later romantic comedy. The movie also contains a subtle piece of behind-the-scenes history because Sandler was not only its star—he was also credited as one of its producers.
