John Wick follows John Wick (Keanu Reeves), a legendary former assassin who has walked away from his violent past after marrying the love of his life, Helen. After Helen's death, John receives a puppy named Daisy, one final gift intended to help him cope with his grief. His attempt at a quiet life ends when Iosef Tarasov (Alfie Allen), the reckless son of Russian crime boss Viggo Tarasov (Michael Nyqvist), breaks into John's home, steals his beloved 1969 Ford Mustang, and kills Daisy. The attack awakens the feared assassin John had tried to leave behind. John returns to the criminal underworld, bringing him into conflict with Viggo's organization and a network of professional killers. Along the way, characters such as Marcus (Willem Dafoe), Winston (Ian McShane), Charon (Lance Reddick), Aurelio (John Leguizamo), and Ms. Perkins (Adrianne Palicki) reveal different sides of the secret world John once belonged to.
