Sweet Home Alabama follows Melanie Carmichael (Reese Witherspoon), a successful New York fashion designer who appears to have completely reinvented herself after leaving her Alabama roots behind. After seven years of separation, Melanie secretly returns to Alabama to convince Jake to finally sign the divorce papers.
