Where To Watch Chainsaw Man — Season 1

Chainsaw Man Season 1 follows Denji, a desperately poor teenager trapped under a mountain of debt and forced to work as a devil hunter for the yakuza. His only real companion is Pochita, a tiny chainsaw-powered Devil who becomes his closest friend and partner. After Denji is betrayed and killed, Pochita makes a life-changing contract with him, allowing Denji to return as the terrifying and bizarre Chainsaw Man—a human with a devil's heart. Denji is soon recruited by Makima into the government's Public Safety Devil Hunters, where he meets the disciplined Aki Hayakawa and the unpredictable Blood Fiend Power. Together, they face increasingly dangerous Devils while Denji discovers that his simple dreams—good food, a comfortable home, affection and companionship—can be much more complicated than he imagined. The season mixes ultra-violent action, dark comedy, horror, absurdity and surprisingly emotional character moments. As Denji becomes more deeply involved with Aki, Power, Makima, Himeno and the other Devil Hunters, the seemingly ridiculous premise gradually develops into a story about loneliness, manipulation, friendship and what people are willing to sacrifice for an ordinary life.

More details about Chainsaw Man — Season 1 and where you can watch

Chainsaw Man stands out because it combines brutal horror, dark comedy, emotional drama, and surprisingly ordinary everyday problems. Denji is not driven by traditional superhero ambitions—his early dreams are as simple as eating good food, having a comfortable home, and experiencing affection. This makes his journey feel unusual and often unexpectedly relatable. Another distinctive feature is the anime’s music: all 12 episodes of Season 1 received different ending songs and visuals, featuring artists such as Aimer, Eve, Vaundy, ano, Kanaria, and Maximum the Hormone. The opening theme, “KICK BACK” by Kenshi Yonezu, also became one of the show’s biggest musical successes. The series was animated by MAPPA, which used a more cinematic visual style, including realistic backgrounds and carefully choreographed action scenes. Creator Tatsuki Fujimoto has drawn inspiration from films, manga, anime, and pop culture, with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre being one of the notable influences behind the series’ chainsaw-and-horror identity. Interestingly, despite its extreme violence, much of the story revolves around loneliness, friendship, manipulation, grief, and the desire for a normal life. These contrasts—cute characters alongside terrifying Devils, comedy immediately followed by tragedy, and spectacular action mixed with mundane daily life—are a major reason Chainsaw Man became such a distinctive modern anime.
