Where To Watch Stand by Me (1986)

Set in a small Oregon town in 1959, Stand by Me follows four inseparable boys—Gordie Lachance, Chris Chambers, Teddy Duchamp, and Vern Tessio—who embark on an unusual adventure after learning that the body of a missing boy, Ray Brower, may be lying somewhere outside town. What begins as a quest to become local heroes gradually becomes a much deeper journey through friendship, fear, grief, family problems, and the difficult transition from childhood toward adulthood. Gordie Lachance (Wil Wheaton) is a sensitive and imaginative boy struggling with the death of his older brother. Chris Chambers (River Phoenix) is Gordie's closest friend, but he carries the burden of his family's troubled reputation. Teddy Duchamp (Corey Feldman) is eccentric and impulsive, while Vern Tessio (Jerry O'Connell) is nervous but provides much of the group's comic energy. Their journey includes dangerous railroad tracks, a terrifying encounter with a junkyard dog, a swamp full of leeches, and a confrontation with the older bully Ace Merrill (Kiefer Sutherland).

More details about Stand by Me (1986) and where you can watch

Stand by Me is based on Stephen King’s novella “The Body” from his 1982 collection Different Seasons, which also inspired The Shawshank Redemption and Apt Pupil. The famous leech scene was inspired by one of King’s own childhood experiences. The film was originally going to keep the title The Body, but it was changed to Stand by Me after Ben E. King’s iconic song. River Phoenix’s emotional performance as Chris Chambers became one of the film’s most memorable elements, while the movie also helped launch the careers of several young actors. Despite being based on a Stephen King story, the film is primarily a coming-of-age story about friendship, childhood, loss and growing up.
