Where To Watch Superbad

Superbad is a coming-of-age comedy about two inseparable high-school seniors, Seth and Evan, who are nearing graduation and terrified that college will finally separate them. When they get invited to a party, they see it as their last opportunity to become popular, impress their crushes and have one unforgettable night. Their plan depends on getting alcohol for the party, but their socially awkward friend Fogell—who creates the legendary fake ID name "McLovin"—turns a simple errand into complete chaos. As Seth and Evan's night spirals through drunken parties, embarrassing encounters and unexpected run-ins with Officers Slater and Michaels, the movie gradually becomes more than a raunchy teen comedy. At its heart, it is about friendship, growing up and the fear that life will change once high school ends. The main cast includes Jonah Hill as Seth, Michael Cera as Evan, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as Fogell/McLovin, Emma Stone as Jules, Bill Hader as Officer Slater and Seth Rogen as Officer Michaels.

More details about Superbad and where you can watch

Superbad has an unusually personal origin: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg began writing the story when they were only about 13 years old, drawing heavily from their own teenage experiences and friendship. The script then evolved for years before becoming the 2007 movie.

The movie was also an important early showcase for Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Emma Stone, several of whom went on to become major Hollywood stars. Christopher Mintz-Plasse was still a high-school senior when he played McLovin.

Another unusual detail is that Bill Hader based Officer Slater partly on a real police officer who had arrested Hader when he was younger after a prank went wrong.

Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s audition was memorable enough that the filmmakers kept him, even though Jonah Hill initially didn’t particularly want him in the role. The contrast between the characters’ personalities ultimately became one of the movie’s biggest comedic strengths.
