Horimiya is adapted from the hit manga by HERO and illustrated by Daisuke Hagiwara, but the original story actually began as a webcomic years before the manga adaptation. One of the biggest reasons for the anime’s popularity is that it avoids the typical “will-they-won’t-they” romance formula and instead lets Hori and Miyamura become a couple early, focusing on their everyday life together. CloverWorks faithfully recreated many of the manga’s emotional moments while enhancing them with expressive animation and a memorable soundtrack. Despite having only 13 episodes, the series covers nearly the entire main storyline, making it feel complete while still leaving fans wanting more. The anime quickly became one of the highest-rated romance titles of 2021 and introduced many viewers to the slice-of-life romance genre.
